Are we prog people?

Did you ever ask yourself why you like this kind of music much more than any other (or just this kind, btw)?

Do you think we are complicated, interesting and fascinating people, or we are just struggling to hide our lack of ideas, ideals and substance under a thick layer of mental noodling?

Do you really think that prog music suits all aspects of your personality, and truly and exclusively represent your essence, or is it just a way to deceive the failures we face as men?

I went through many musical phases in my life, and when I was a straight-edge prog-guy I couldn't handle anything else, I thought I was better than other people that listened to different music.

Later, I ended listening mainly to music that I formerly thought was sh1t, being less progressive musically, but more in life...

Did anyone of you members faced a similar turning point, and faced the same questions that I do?

Stupid questions deserves intelligent answers...

I don’t know about you but I’ve always listened to prog because I love the music – any other reason would be a terrible waste of time.

 

Prog is not a lifestyle. And life is way too short to spend it pretending to like a musical genre in order to feel smart, solve an identity crisis, resolve existential problems or find the meaning of life.

 

In other words, enjoy prog for what it is, have fun with your music and (for prog’s sake) don’t take life so seriously !

 

Btw, you’ll find plenty threads of the “are we snobs” variety on this forum. Just use the search button.

There was an interesting one about a Jung test- most of us who took the test turned out to be introverts... which shouldn't be a surprise
