Simply list your Top 10 Symphonic Prog artists from around the world with one favourite artist chosen from each of ten countries. The choice of nations is yours and the world is your lobster.

Great idea for a thread, but as you surely can imagine, it would be impossible for me to make a list like that. I can tell as much though that concerning Greece and The Netherlands, my favourites are the same as yours. I might also be back here to tell my favourites from those of other countries I'll be able to choose.

Not to worry. There's no need to list a full Top 10 if you're unable to come up with that many Symphonic Prog favourites, but hopefully, you'll find one from your home country of Denmark.

Allright, those are my Symphonic favourites from the countries where I've been able to choose one: Änglagård (Sweden) Ache (Denmark) Pell Mell (Germany) Collegium Musicum (Slovakia)
Focus (The Netherlands) Tantra (Portugal) Solaris (Hungary) Aphrodite’s Child (Greece) Bacamarte (BRA) M.I.A. (Argentina) Guruh Gipsy (Indonesia) While I don't want/can't choose a favourite from UK, France and Spain - too many of them. Edited by David_D - January 06 2023 at 14:58 |

Well done! I was almost tempted to choose Osiris from Bahrain for my Top 10, until I remembered they're listed as Neo Prog on PA. In retrospect, I wish I'd included Solaris in my Top 10.

While I've added Guruh Gipsy from Indonesia to my list, so now it's almost as much from all around the world as yours. Edited by David_D - January 06 2023 at 15:04 |

You might be tempted to mention it additionally - if you've counted how many I've listed.

I thought Grumpy might be the only one to include Indonesia in their Top 10. Surprise, surprise, I swapped Surprise (USA) for Solaris in my hastily revised Top 10.

Great list, but none of them are symphonic prog, except maybe for Bubu in some parts. They are listed as eclectic prog on PA. Edited by enigmatic - January 06 2023 at 20:45 |

Only Symphonic Prog Top 10 from Around the World oops this isn’t going to be an easy one to list. I shall have to do some serious thinking before making any choices then. I’ll post my results.

Here's my list revised to include my favourite countries and thus also my beloved Italian Symphonic (RPI), and basically it's a list of the bands which at least has released one album I'm fond/very fond of (unranked): Änglagård (Sweden) Collegium Musicum (Slovakia)
Focus (The Netherlands) Ange, Atoll, Clearlight, Pulsar (France) Cai, Canarios, Crack, Triana (Spain) Camel, ELP, Genesis, Rick Wakeman, Yes (UK) Banco, IBdB, Le Orme, Museo, PFM (Italy) Solaris (Hungary) Aphrodite’s Child (Greece) Bacamarte (BRA) M.I.A. (Argentina) Guruh Gipsy (Indonesia) But as it can been seen, I couldn't fulfill the requirements of only one artist from each country, and only 10 countries. Sorry about that!
