^/^^ I made a mistake: Unfolded Like Staircase (which is overall top 5 for me, but from 1997) should be To Shatter All Accord.

It's also cool that there are not many duplicate entries. Lots of incredible music for all tastes.

I'll give 8, with more on one band, just because I'm excited about them. In order, to the best of my ability to judge right here and now:
  1. Quiet World (Native Construct, 2015) — Highly dramatized Prog Metal largely in the style of BTBAM. Just an epic album...
  2. Dhorimviskha (Koenji Hyakkei, 2018) — One of the projects of Tatsuya Yoshida (Ruins), displaying their mastery over a more classic Zeuhl sound.
  3. Deviations (Mammoth, 2016) — Now called Thrailkill, after the band leader, their final album as Mammoth is incredible. This was the aforementioned band. The other two I recommend are Everything That Is You (2018) and the excellent compilation Mammoth: Progenies (2012-2016) (2017).
  4. Mathematical Mother (Universal Totem Orchestra, 2016) — Another often highly heralded example of modern Zeuhl. Love me a female voice in Prog, too, I'll admit here and now.
  5. City of the Sun (Seven Impale, 2014) — This was a big deal to me when this came out. Norwegian Eclectic Prog with elements I find most derived from VdGG, then from early KC, and lightly inspired, I think/possibly, by Canterbury Scene.
  6. Coma Ecliptic (Between the Buried and Me, 2015) — Released about the same time as Quiet World above, this was recommended to me by the same friend who told me about Native Construct and I just latched onto it far more. Still do. More than anything BTBAM has done, really...
  7. Schlagenheim (black midi, 2019) — This is still an album I think about from time to time and, despite only having heard it through twice now, it really does stick with me. People (most recently) talk about this in the scope of Post-Punk, but that is so misleading. Amazing, gruff, wild, admittedly punky Avant-Prog from England. I guess I rated this before I was doing reviews... hmmmm...
  8. Quickly Quickly Quickly (The Tea Club, 2012) — I only listened through this one once, but, like Schlagenheim, to a lesser degree, it has stuck with me. Just some stunning, thoughtful modern Prog. Wish I had more to say.

I'd like to ask you one more thing concerning this, Grumpy. Do you by "resonate" just mean "a good match", or it means something more?

Edit:
Actually, you have written something about it ("Most prefer music they grew up with, but for me, there is more talent and variety of music now than there ever has been."), but maybe you could say some more about this "resonating", and it's the meaning of this word/term, I'm interested in.

^Doesn't mean any more than a good match.

But the quantity of current music is more vast than the 70's. More choices, better matches.
