Progarchives.com is a music site, first and foremost. The "General Discussion" sub-forums have been places to discuss other topics outside of music, shoot the breeze, and play games. For the most part, discourse in this area has been unproblematic. In August, a thread pertaining to Covid-19 that ran a long course on the forum was closed as the debate devolved into a contentious fray. It became apparent that nothing would be gained and users were not somehow going to become less entrenched in whatever angle of the debate they were coming from. It was meant to be temporary at the time, but as of now, the conversations are no less contentious.
We will no longer host this discussion. We have limited resources to moderate the forum and can not continue to facilitate discussions that result in constant reports of impropriety and require vigilant fact checking.
The Internet is an unbelievably huge place. There are countless places that can host this discussion and we invite anyone interested in the topic to seek those opportunities. As a matter of fact, the web is inundated with websites, forums, social media etc. that thrive on it. We are surrounded by it, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Consider Progarchives a place where you can come and forget about it for awhile.
Users who start threads on the Progarchives forum relating to Covid-19, vaccines, mask mandates and quarantines will lose their topic starting privilege. Derailing existing threads for the topic will not be tolerated.
We love and appreciate all of you and hope that we can all continue to listen and share information about the music we all enjoy. It is why we are here.
