We are still waiting for the third and final vote to be cast. There are eight Crossover evaluations stuck in the same state of limbo, but as we know, all collaborators work here solely as volunteers, and have real life commitments to take care of as well as their PA work. Fingers crossed that the third Crossover team member will be back with us on progfreak sooner rather than later, and I'm sure that this evaluation will be a dead easy 'yes' for him once he does return.

Why wait for the third vote? It is never in a month of Sundays going to be a no. Delays for a major artist such as Kelly really does the reputation of this site no good whatsoever.

Yes, a band that should easily be included here.
This message was brought to you by a proud supporter of the Deep State.

Understood what you say, but please keep in mind we Teams are all volunteers.
Consider Marathon can be cleared in near future so would you let us take time?

It is currently #2 on my 2020 list, so can I add it by January 31, 2021?

14 years on this site and I completely forgot we were all volunteers!

I am fully aware of both the guidelines and especially the fact team collabs are volunteers, thank you. I was a collab working alongside you on the neo team for a while.

This row is nothing new, but to repeat, Kelly is a major figure in the progressive rock world. This reminds me very strongly of the Squackett row, another act who were always going to be accepted, but in the end were “placed” on the site owing to frustration with a long evaluation time.

It should take no more than a couple of minutes to evaluate Marathon. In addition, an act such as this really should be a priority, as opposed to Fred Buggins and His Pacemakers who have released one extended set of songs available exclusively on Bandcamp.

If a collab is unavailable for personal life reasons, then as an admin, you have the authority, surely, to push the addition through.

When artists such as this release an album, especially via a new collaborative project, they want the publicity at or around the time of release. They want reviews. They are happier to do interviews. This album was released in November following quite a long crowdfunding campaign. Quite honestly, I don’t think that I will approach Mark for an interview now. As usual, PA has missed the boat owing to its additions policy, and I will take time to do a review as well.

To close, I am fully aware of the policy and the voluntary status of team members. If you want help, all you have to do is ask. Whilst I have no desire to be a full time team member again, I am more than happy to help out when needed, and I have offered this before. Perhaps if you and fellow admins might wish to discuss a more flexible artist addition policy which better reflects the reality of collabs situations? I would be more than happy to help with this as well. I hate top say it, but the sclerotic manner in which we do things really does have an impact on a limited audience perception of the site, and not in a good way.

I have no right to hurry collabs for evaluating, sorry for my sake. Unhappy

Keishiro San, you have completely misunderstood the purpose of my post. No apology was expected, or required. I am merely trying to expedite an addition of a major artist to the site efficiently, so I freely apologise should any offence have been taken.

My overarching point is that we surely can be more efficient in doing these things. That is not a criticism of you personally, but the site rules and guidelines. Rules might not be there to be broken, but they can surely be bent a wee bit when circumstances allow?

I probably shouldn't be chiming in here because it's off topic, I don't really know the inner workings of this site, and I'm probably stepping on someone's toes. I apologize if I am.

Would it not be worthwhile to have some sort of policy to pull the talents of "retired" members to fill in temporarily when a member has to be absent due to personal/family reasons? Or perhaps to find a way to share the workload by having some members designated as "rotating," meaning that if they have time and are knowledgeable of the genre, they can fill in temporarily on a team that is backlogged?

Again, sorry if I'm stepping on anyone's toes.

Good news chaps. Mark Kelly's Marathon has been cleared for addition to Crossover today - along with six more of the eight evaluations that have been held in limbo while waiting for a third vote to be cast. You should be able to add your reviews of the album to the site very soon! Smile
