Hey!
I've made a website that i thought i'd share with this community. Having been a long time reader here and im thinking some might enjoy it. Its a simple idea; once a day it will generate a new album for you. The albums will all be taken from the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. You can rate and add notes to your albums, and export your history. The site keeps track of what you've listened to so you wont get the same album twice. Great for when you've ran out of ideas on what to listen to! The reason im sharing it here is that its pretty heavy on rock-albums, and there's lots of prog rock in it. And if people drop their generated albums in here im sure we can get some nice discussions going. No registration required, you just enter your preferred address and thats where your album will appear each day. |

I also have the book "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die", although in all honesty, there are several albums in the book I'd rather not hear again before I die.

The first album that was generated was from George Michael. I might not like this generator very much.

I really like George Michael, so the albums generator is off to a good start.

A generator for the potential book "If You Are Tired of These 1001 Albums Then You Are Tired of Life" would be nice, though it might induce suicide. "'When you are tired of Ursa Minor Beta you are tired of life.' —Quote from Playbeing magazine, as a result of which the planet's suicide rate quadrupled overnight" (Douglas Adams - The Restaurant at the End of the Universe" which references Dr. Samuel Johnson's "Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." I've found London to be less than very affordable, but that's life. By the way, when I saw this topic title I thought it might be comparing Magma's 1001° centigrades, Yes' Big Generatorand Abba's The Albums compilation (or the Jethro Tull 4 Albums compilation. I'll give the generator a try at some time. Lots I love and am pleased to see that is mentioned in the book, and I am of the opinion that something can be well worth listening to even if it doesn't match your tastes. I'd like to experience various new to me things that I wouldn't entertain/ try otherwise. |

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

If you don't know the Go-Go's, then you haven't even started living. ;)
"They got the beat They got the beat Kids got the beat Yeah, kids got the beat" That song would have been hard to avoid here. Edited by Logan - September 21 2020 at 17:57 |

Yep. When I first started listening to pop radio as a kid that was one of the top songs at the time.

I just tried it and got the Smith's Meat Is Murder. Now that is a cool and coincidental result as I was listening to the Smiths a few hours ago and discovering more of its music (In fact I've listened to more of the Smiths today than anything else), and the Smiths is not something I often listen to.
