Topic: Is there a notification system for when replies? Posted: January 15 2020 at 16:58 |
For example, if someone quotes or replies to my post, or post on someone elses topic, why can't there be a notification system? I know that there is "Email notify me of replies", but is there a part on the website that sends you a message/notification to make you aware?

I just scroll down to the bottom of the Forums main page where I can see all of the Latest Forum Posts highlighted.

No, many of the prog band forums have a system that when someone 'replies' to a post, quotes a post, it sends you a notification mail at the top right (kinda next to Memberlist and Logout) that says "user x has replied to your post" "user x has commented on your thread".
etc.

Doesn't work. Sorry you are confused or very dim, I am not talking about emails I am talking about notifications in the site (as specified a few times).
Not emails. Notifications. Notifications on site.

Thanks for the reply, as an IT worker who has been on this site for 15 years or so I am quite aware of the difference between an email and a notification. I was just trying to be helpful as an email does in fact notify you of a reply to your post. This is fairly old forum software and obviously doesn't have what you require. What's wrong with an email? I will be reporting your abuse by the way. Oh and you seem confused yourself as you said "it sends you a notification mail at the top right " earlier.

Ok we get it champ, no notifications on the site. Hence my post on the "Help us improve the site" section... my previous comments still stand.

I don't see how our buddy and longtime collab Chopper is "dim" for trying to help out (even if unsuccessfully) someone asking a Q.
Relatively rude of your part.

Thank you Hugues and Steve.
I try to be helpful here when I can, having been a member of this site since 2005. You could have just said "thanks for your help but you may have misinterpreted my requirements" but instead you chose to be offensive.
As I said, I've reported this to the admins (first time I've ever done this!) and let's leave it at that.

Is it that time of the month for you, dude? Or are you always this unpleasant?
I will suggest an improvement of Hugo's mood before typing up a post
Suggestion: twiddle/diddle your thumbs ten times around the keyboard pad before start typing a post.

Imagine being this unaware. Practice what you preach. Why are you even here, at least the other guy had something related to the post to offer.

I think this topic was explored enough, everybody calm down. It can be frustrating when a site these days doesn't have some very common things but the situation is currently that there are no updates coming up any time soon because of lack of maintenance by the owner, so we're probably not gonna be able to react to any technical improvements, no matter how good the suggestions are.
Closing the thread.
