These guys have been approved for the site for months and they’re still not up. Is there any updates as to when they’re going to be added?

When it gets added depends on a volunteer's (or volunteers if it's a collaborative effort) time and willingness. Often people get down to such things when they are willing and find they have the time. It sometimes amazes me how much effort so many do put into additions and evaluations considering that this is strictly voluntary with no remuneration.
It helps the more familiar and the more of a follower of the band one is -- for general existent knowledge, familiarity with the material and related material, as well as enthusiasm. We are all volunteers, this is a hobby, and we all have other commitments/ responsibilities outside of the site -- the usual things like work, family, partners, friends, other pastimes, those bottles of beer that are looking lonely and once you've spent some quality time with you're not up to doing anything else. I've worked on easier, and much less potentially controversial, additions than this, and have still had to set aside a night to complete it. Also, there are other bands that need adding. It's not uncommon for an addition to take many months before being added. Only a five star collaborator can add bands, which limits the numbers, and commonly members of a team will add to their category since they often know their category best, how something fits, and how best to explain how it fits and make suitable reference points when appropriate. That said, I know someone (a non collab fan of the band) volunteered to write the bio before and perhaps that was missed (a decent original bio takes me hours to research and write, but some are more efficient than I). That still would have needed vetting, as well as adding to it in all probability -- aside from the history and talking about the personnel, like explaining why it was included, its relevance to its category, possibly similar acts in PA, the best material from a Prog standpoint.... This is one where extra care should be taken in the addition, and it is a more challenging addition than most. |

By the way, if you or another are willing (or still willing) to prepare a bio (it should be well-researched, quite comprehensive, and in your own words as much as possible) and perhaps offer to add the albums according to the PA standards after it is added by an SC, please mention it here and I can run that by the team. That potentially could help to speed up the addition considerably, but for all I know, someone may have already started researching and preparing it.

I suspect they haven't been added because their discography is a pain in the ass. However, at least they aren't like Senmuth or Phrozenlight Issues Average Ratings Reviews Title / Release Date +7 Rate3.18 3,304 22 2017 • King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard With Mild High Club |

The discography is not that bad, it's not Buckethead or Acid Mothers Temple, especially if a few people coordinate. It doesn't all have to be done at once (do the most important ones to PA first). I'd be willing to help out with that if I'm around, not too busy, and not giving my beer its much needed attention. ;) And I expect that people like Doug would help out too.
There was a time when the database went down and we had to re-add a tonne of stuff that wasn't saved, now that was some great teamwork (google cache helped). Edited by Logan - October 24 2019 at 21:38 |

I would help but I know there are probably hundreds of people here who are much better with words than I am.

KING GIZZARD was recently added to MMA because of the latest thrash metal release so here's the page so it will be easier to copy and paste once someone here has time to tackle this monster |

WTF! PA Psychedelic/Space Rock these days includes King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
Admittedly, I have only heard 2019's "Infest the Rats' Nest" and a few other songs, but they deviate significantly from what I understand the genre represents. Not that I'm pro or con of their PA admission, but it allows me to suggest a whole bunch of bands that I have never thought of before. Which is good I suppose....? Of course, the genres - including Psychedelic/Space Rock - develop, but perhaps this addition requires a new sub-genre?

"Infest the Rats' Nest" is not a good indicator of the type of music of King Gizzard, and probably no one album is a good indicator. I suggested that they be placed in the Eclectic sub-genre, although regardless of the type of music they play, they do seem to be psychedelic at their core. |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.
