Has anyone ever heard The Who's Quadrophenia. I just listened to it and didnt realize all of the prog moments with it. A very conceptual album, it brings up themes constantly throughout the entire thing... what a masterpiece. Anyone have any feelings towards this album, could it be considered prog?

The use of synthesizer in that album is amazing.  One of the best.

yes ..of course. One of the concept albums ever, it is often overlooked because it was The Who that made it, but I agree it's synthesizer work is amazing..

It, for some reason, really captures an 'atmosphere' also, which so few albums do. I love it. Was so glad when I got to see them play the whole thing in LA, a few years back.

Virtually prog, but not quite.

It's an excellent rock, album, The Who's best IMO..and a great film.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Yeah, it's a great album, but not prog as far as I'm concerned.

It's a prog album for the majority time with some 1st rate rock tunes included.

BTW there are some startling good reinterpretations of tunes from Lifehouse /Who's Next, esp.  Won't Get Fooled Again, on Townshend's Lifehouse Project multi-CD set issued in 2000, which in their way are as post prog rock as The Mars Volta.

I'll leave the prog debate to others.  I think it is such a great album. Keith Moon was the best.
