The policy of this website is to not include bootlegs. Well, "Inside Van der Graaf Generator" definitely is one. Check the official homepage of Peter Hammill for this: This entry should be removed immediately. |

I've noticed that these 'Inside' DVDs have been condemned by almost every artist that they release them of, or by the fans of the bands.

they are a rip-off, of both artist and listener. they are overly expensive. this is at least the case for VdGG. to cite Peter Hammill: " A copy of the Classic Rock "Inside VdGG" DVD has now made its way to us. As expected, this is an exploitative release (at a barely credible £25!) which we urge you to avoid. If you know anything at all about VdGG you will learn nothing from this package." |

We at Prog Archives owe Mr Hammill big time for his generosity of spirit in allowing us to keep the MP3s. Smack my wrists if you want, but I have deleted this DVD as a mark of respect. |

The "Inside" series are a tricky one. They cannot be bootlegs in the accepted sense, as they are commercially available through High Street stores, and online retailers. I understand that they have not been sanctioned by the bands concerned, but that is the case for many compilations and re-issues, especially where the band have lost ownership of their back catalogue. Many of these collections contain otherwise hard to get or unavailable recordings, even if they are frustratingly edited. |

What about the Zappa DVD "The Torture Never Stops"? It is published by Room 101, and it was filmed for television. I wondered why it's not in the archives ...
