When Bohemian Rhapsody was released in the 70's I can remember the music video on Top of the Pops for weeks if not months. There was not anything like it beforehand. Nobody had seen (how do I put this) a proper music video and it somehow catapulted the song into peoples consciousness along with Queen and Freddie. From that point on they seemed to have quickly gained a strong following.
