Topic: Arzachel vs. Egg Posted: June 13 2015 at 07:21 |
2 albums by essentially the same band that seem to be quite subjective among proggers. Both are similarly rated on RYM and could be considered as two of the first progressive albums, so I thought it could be interesting. For me, Arzachel is just an average psychedelic proto-prog record with a few other things going for it that makes it stand out from the heavy psych kind of scene. Egg's debut on the other hand is one of my favourite Canterbury albums, easily in the top 5, that's probably as experimental as any other prog LP at the time, plus there's such an incredible musicianship on it. Anyway, looking forward to any feedback!

The polite force is one of my favorite albums, but Arzachel has Azatoth

Arzachel. Great psych prog. "Queen St. Gang" is a classic.

Egg is a more mature work and Arzachel sounds dated at times.
