There's an obscure band recommended by Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) with a small following. While the first album is somewhat linear on a psychedelic version of singer-songwriter, it's hard to define the more experimental second album. I'd think of it as avant garde folk/ambient music. I find most of it very creative and beyond the mainstream: therefore prog. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNejpUwn78w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2aerD-fqjQ

I've suggested Promise and the Monster to Prog Folk Team back in 2011 but this solo project was rejected.
Let's give it another shot shall we? Two albums on Spotify: Promise And The Monster – Red Tide Promise And The Monster – Transparent Knives |
