As it says in the title, what prog rock albums have track after track of outstanding music, with no bad songs, in your opinion I can only think of a few (below) but looking forward to what you think!!
ELP - Brain Salad Surgery Genesis - Trespass Genesis - Foxtrot King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King Supertramp - Crime Of The Century Yes - Close To The Edge
Again, thanks for any feedback!

Every song on Thick as a Brick is really good.
But seriously, almost every Tull, ELP, Genesis, Yes, Moody Blues and King Crimson album from the '70's works for me. I'd add David Bowie if I could. There's a lot more than that, but I feel pretty safe with that blanket. Can't quite say the same for Pink Floyd, but almost. Oh, and Illusions on a Double Dimple.

The OP has perhaps just unwittingly stumbled upon my definition of a 5 star album?

Thats effectively all my 5 star albums, though I've missed out those that have really short songs that act as lead ins for longer tracks. They work well in an album context but on their own don't tend to do much for me so I've left those albums out.

In response to Xonty's original post, I just don't like ELP or Genesis that much, especially ELP. It's just a matter of personal taste. Therefore, I would substitute perhaps King Crimson's Discipline or Steely Dan's Pretzel Logic.

Truly there aren't that many that satisfy this definition. BSS is my favourite album but that would not even get in.
I'll go:
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Genesis - A Trick Of The Tail Yes - Close To The Edge King Crimson - Red Jethro Tull - Thick As Brick
those represent the benchmark and its not worth listing any more imo

I don't think there is any album where every song is excellent. Lots of albums with a mix if excellent and very good songs though
|
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.
