I'm a Metheny fan so went with him and I'm not  big fan of Opeth or VDGG or Fates Warning....though VDGG's Still Life is a good album.

I thin an identical poll was already done some time ago. This time my vote is for the jazz guitarist
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

VDGG
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

No need to hear the others, there is less than 1% chance that even one of them can contest against VdGG's #1 masterpiece.

Van der Graaf Generator Still Life
When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.
