For Immediate Release Rare 1973 Live Concert Recording Of Prog Legends Flash Featuring Peter Banks 'Flash – In Public' To Be Released October 29, 2013 Asheville, NC - Much to the anticipation of progressive rock fans worldwide, for the first time, a rare recording of UK prog group Flash, featuring legendary guitarist Peter Banks, from January 21, 1973 will be released on CD on October 29, 2013. Titled 'Flash – In Public', this historic and exciting concert recording features the original Flash line-up – Peter Banks, Colin Carter, Ray Bennett and Mike Hough in rare form live at Kansas City's Cowtown Ballroom. The show was taped on the very first mobile truck for The Record Plant. Flash were on the same bill that evening with The Byrds, who would disband after a few more dates. The shows were all recorded for the Lee Jeans & Cotton concert series – the first nationally syndicated rock concert series! Tracks include: Small Beginnings 8:36 Black And White 12:23 Stop That Banging 4:10 There No More 8:45 Children Of The Universe 8:43 Dreams Of Heaven 24.54 The CD was finished by Flash crew member George Mizer and serves also as a tribute to the late Peter Banks, who passed away just days before finishing the final mix in March 2013. Says George, "1972-73 was a very special time for me and my love for music in general, getting to go out on the road with one of my favorite bands was unreal for me, now 40 years later we are getting the first complete Flash concert recording ever to be released. Even with the loss of Pete Banks in March I am sure he would have been pleased with the 'Flash featuring Ray Bennett and Colin Carter' release - if you haven't got it yet you are missing a treat." Steve Hackett: "I remember Pete in the early seventies as a friend and superb guitarist. Phil Collins and I were fans of Pete and his band Flash. Pete's talent extended way beyond the work he did with YES. I remember him very well." Tony Kaye: "To play keyboards with Peter in YES and later with Flash was always an honor and a challenge. He never compromised his guitar style and always pushed for the best from the musicians he played with." Flash video teasers: To purchase 'Flash – In Public' visit: www.peterbanks. Did you notice that for interviews you can only contact former Flash drummer, Mike Hough, or a man named George Mizer? Peter Banks died recently, of course, but what about the other Flash members, Ray Bennett and Colin Carter? Why aren't they suggested for interviews?
It's because this is an illegal release, not properly licensed from the rights holder (Universal Music Group), or the band members. Mike is enjoying a bit of publicity, I guess, and doesn't seem to mind even though he has no contract or compensation for his work. Go figure. It may require a lawsuit to settle this. It's a bootleg. Oh, and there's no bass. We're told there was a problem at the gig and it wasn't recorded. All you hear is a faint bit of bleed from the vocal mikes. Guitar and drums. If you're a Flash fan, you know how prominent the bass-playing was. For those unfamiliar, imagine a Yes concert without Chris Squire. Edited by sherrynoland - January 26 2014 at 20:58 |
