Topic: SYD BARRETT added! Posted: August 02 2005 at 18:31 |
Syd Barrett has been added to the Archives! (Thanks Frenchie)
And now, all is right in the world again...
P.S. I don't care if you anyone doesn't think he is prog. He started
the FLOYD and that's good enough for me. Influential prog artist? Most
certainly!

Agreed,
I do think he has alot of prog elements though, for instance he wrote 'Celestial Voices' in its first version titled 'The Massed Gadgets of Hercules', which is the ending sequence of 'A Saucerful of Secrets' which I believe is the first avant garde epic/ space epic in music, I may be wrong but I'm very sure it is the first one, if not it deffinetly is one of the first. I'm sure he wrote and contributed to the other movements of the album version of the song while it was in development.
I think that song is the most progressive song he made and proves he deserves a spot here.

Floyd were not prog when they started...they were psychadelic. But any crap seems to be added in here as prog, so there is no point arguing. But i see it's been added by yet another North American, where prog apparently takes all kind of forms, except prog.
