Everything you need to know can be found here: http://www.soundofcontact.com/bio/, but if you'd rather read the gist of it staying right where you are...

Simon Collins’ New Band Project “Sound of Contact”

With 3 of his own albums under his belt Simon Collins, (son of Phil), decided to try something he had always wanted to do. Ever since his childhood watching and air-drumming along to his father’s band Genesis, he dreamed about having a band of his own. That new band is now here, and is called “Sound of Contact”. It features Simon Collins on vocals and drums, Dave Kerzner on keyboards, Matt Dorsey and Kelly Nordstrom each trading off duties on guitar and bass.

Their debut album is called “Dimensionaut”, a deep concept album about a dimensional time and space traveler making wild discoveries on a trek to expand the boundaries of the human experience. The album features a wide range of styles and dynamics from dark and mysterious progressive rock to nostalgic classic rock to high energy alternative to sci-fi film score-infused “space rock”. With a plethora of atmospheric instrumental segues, melodic radio-friendly vocal tracks and an 18+ minute long epic grand finale, “Dimensionaut” will offer a refreshing balance of adventurous musical styles and aims to bring back the art of the concept album to a new generation of listeners.

“Dimensionaut” will be released world-wide in 2013. It was co-produced by Simon Collins and Dave Kerzner, and mixed by Nick Davis (Genesis, XTC, It Bites) at The Warehouse in Vancouver. Nick acted as a mentor to both Simon and Dave during the process. It was later mastered by Gavin Lurssen and Rueben Cohen, of Lurssen Mastering, in 2011.

The sampler for it sounds very promising indeed:

The album features a track with guest vocals by the beautiful and amazing Hannah Stobart from Rocket Moth and Wishing Tree (with Steve Rothery of Marillion).

Simon Collins and Hannah sing together in a haunting multi-dimensional duet.

In 2012, Simon Collins and Dave Kerzner from "Sound of Contact" were guests on vocals and keys with Steve Hackett on the epic song "Supper's Ready" from Steve's "Genesis Revisited 2" album.

More news when I have it.... Embarrassed
