These are currently the top 10 most highly rated albums of 2012 on PA. Of these, which do you prefer or which albums have you heard? I've only heard three of them but am only really familiar with one.

I have heard four of these in their entirety and a small part of a fifth. Echolyn's album is my favourite of these, closely followed by English Electric (Part One). Both are 5-star albums in my book.
Of the others I have heard Viljans Öga (3.5 stars) and that album by Galahad, who have not seen the Holy Grail of Prog yet (2.5 stars).

Out of this list, I only have 'Echolyn' (which is superb), 'Felicite Thosz' (which is highly enjoyable), and 'Viljan's Oga' (which is phenomenally brilliant, and my fave of their 3 albums).  Soon to have the Motorpsycho dbl LP which is reputed to be a winner - I can't wait.  At the moment, it's ANGLAGARD !!

I'm voting for Motorpsycho's album.  I was also pleased with what I heard of Big Big Train's album.  And Anglagard have put out yet another stunning album with this one.  Still haven't gotten the new Magma album yet.   It was a good year for music - though most of my favorites of the year aren't technically prog albums.

Like Tom i only have three(the same three as him) and likewise vote Anglagard.
I've got Enslaved on the way which i've heard a couple of songs off of and really liked what i heard.

This new Motorpsycho is an utter stunner and  has my vote!

The long-awaited Anglagard obviously didn't disappoint, but not too pleased. Big Big Train made a record, at last, that you can listen to and even don't be bored.  I'm  listening to Corvus Stone only briefly, yet it seems to be somewhat confused and unfinished, although brilliantly played (like most Supergroups, after all).

I've heard three of these (Big Big Train, Threshold and Änglagĺrd), but I only have one of them, Viljans Öga, and that's where my vote goes.

Corvus Stone is the most interesting for me of the 3 I've heard as it defies description other than being some happy b*****d child of jazz fusion. Not convinced that Anglagard have managed to better Hybris (or even Epilog) which after a long wait is disappointing. BBT is a strange one for me. Has all the right ingredients but I just can't get that excited about it. I think Martin Orford did a much more powerfull album exploring similar lyrical themes called The Old Road which got largely ignored.
Corvus Stone - solid 4 stars
English Electric - 3.5 stars ( but will probably round up)
Viljans Oga - 3 stars

Anglagard or Magma.

I'll go the latter.

Galahad is silly good, original (though some may not like the techy keys, I do) but  this is my current list of 2012 block-busters in no order really.

1- Galahad- Beyond the Realm of Euphoria

2- Deeexpus- The King of Number 33

3- The Minstrel’ Ghost- Road to Avalon

 4- Corvus Stone- same

5- Nine Stones Close- Eye on the Sunrise

6- Frequency Drift- Laid to Rest

 7- Panic Room- Skin

8- L’Estate di San Martino- Talsette di Marsantino

9- RPWL- Beyond Man & Time

10- Mystery- The World is a Game

11- Galahad- Battle Scars

12- Sylvan- Sceneries

13- IO Earth- Moments

14- Silhouette- Across the Rubicon

15- Höstsonaten – Rime of the Ancient Mariner

16- Maurizio diTollo- L’Uomo Trasparente

17- Centric Jones- The Anti

18- Dean Watson- Imposing Elements

19- L’Ombre della Sera- same

20- Big Big Train- English Electric

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.
