The Ozric Tentacles are in the house !
More obscure but excellent albums but if you only know one please vote if you recommend it.
Man i haven't decided yet on my vote yet but the Runaway Totem and Paternoster albums probably standout the most for me.

Ooh, I like that Sula Bassana album very much! Nice and floating, great guitar solos, and a KNOCKOUT cover that looks superb on the vinyl edition! Going to give it a spin right now!

The Ozrics one is also decent, but doesn't really stand out amongst many of their other albums. Still very good, just more of the same. Dammit, I'm trying to not make it sound like I don't like it!

Yugen > Panzerpappa > Terry Riley

How can you not love an album with Mike Johnson, Dave Willey, Guy Segers, Elaine Di Falco & Dave Kerman making guest appearances? It's a RIO supergroup!!

I went with Richard "The French Fripp" Pinhas.  That and Terry Riley are the only ones I've heard.  That Pinhas is very nice, one of the "warmer" sounding albums of his I've heard.

I should maybe look into the RIO Supergroup with Mike "Magic" Johnson in it.

A lot of fine albums here, but to be perfectly honest, this wasn't a hard pick. First vote for Terry Riley's astonishingly beautiful and serene A Rainbow in Curved Air. What is it Americans like to utter? "He changed the game!"..... hoho, yet with Riley there is actually some truth to that. What may have started out as musique concret with Stockhausen now flourished with fullscope microtonal synthesizer sounds. Wafting kaleidoscopic electronic music. No one sounded like this back then, and nobody has ever since. Not that that means anything real, - unique music can be horrendous, but it's definitely not the case here.
He truly did change the game.

An easy pick for me, Vita Nova all the way. It has guitarist Eddy Marron in his first truly progressive recording-the music is ahead of it's time, and mesmerising in it's complexity and creativity.

I've heard the Panzerpappa album and really enjoy it.  I don't know any of the others however.

Lots of great things on this one. Ozrics, Pinhas, R Totem...but for me it comes down between Panzerpappa and Yugen.

I'll go with the latter by hairs!

Oh man i'd love to see Sula Bassana's cover art on the vinyl edition. It's just one of those cool psychedelic covers that mesmerises me. Great music too as you've mentioned Michael.Big smile
I must admit i'm surprised the Ozrics are doing so well. I mean that only because it's not one of their classic records but hey this is a popular band relatively speaking. I know you and Tom OZRIC(Big smile) are big fans.

I forgot about all the guests helping out these Italians. Great album and i think i heard they have a new one out too didn't i ?
Glad to see Panzerpappa mentioned a few times already. These Norwegiens offer up an avant/Jazz flavoured style of music that i really dig. They have just released a new album that is on my "to get" list.

I really like that Iceland album from HELDON's creator Richard Pinhas. Cool to see Jean-Phillipe Goude helping out on mini-moog for one track. He is of course part of WEIDORJE and his solo album Drones is excellent.

Terry Riley's album is the most influencial on this list for sure. The guy was a trailblazer. A must for Electronic fans for sure.

LOL I knew you'd pick this one Doug just because of your fanboyism for Eddy Marron. Funny that he goes by E. Ugly-Ugly on here. Re-issued on the Garden Of Delights label. Nice.

I guess i'll take Paternoster over Runaway Totem because it has no vote. Paternoster are a rare Krautrock band from Austria who sound almost like an acid folk band at times with those mournful vocals. I don't know why exactly but this hits the spot for m. Released in 1972 this was their only album. Get it !
Runaway Totem from Italy play almost a Gothic / Metal style of Zeuhl here with a strong singer. Some i think get turned off by the Metal content but i liked this one from the first time i heard it.
And i want to mention Will-O-The Wisp who i was introduced to by Tom Ozric. They're from Greece and what i like about this debut from them is the floating organ in the background much like Violeta Di Outono's Volume 7 recording. It's just not as consistant in my opinion. Love it though.
