Well, as far as I can see, everyone here introduces himself, so let it be mine unoriginal and useless self-presentationWink

I'm a big fan of both progressive and hard rock. I started off to listen rock music with Queen, so they were my first experience on my favourite genres. I'm still a big fan of Queen and I have a collection of their rare recordings (I mean, really rare recordings that are unavailable on Internet - not boasting, it's just the info 'bout me).

My favourite era of music definitely is 70's. I very like heavy-prog bands of that time, such as Uriah Heep and Dio/Powell-era Rainbow (yeah, at that time they played great heavy prog, not that poppy AOR from 80's).

As for 'pure' prog bands, I very like King Crimson (the alpha and the omega of prog), Porcupine Tree, Genesis (especially Hackett-era), Pink Folyd (it's really hard to find a progger who've never heard Pink Floyd, I'd say, it's rather impossible). Sometimes I'm listening to Yes, Rush, early ELP and some other, less-known, bands...

I'm not a fan of extreme metal (I just don't understand it), but I do like Opeth Smile

As for non-prog performers, I really like Guns N' Roses, Black Sabbath (love both Ozzy and Dio eras), The Doors, early Dio, Led Zeppelin, some of early Deep Purple stuff (yeah, they were prog at that time) and David Bowie (though he is prog sometimes too).

I also like Muse and Radiohead.

Overall, I'm rather a 'commoner' in prog. I mean, I'm listening to it not for the 10th year yet equally not for the tenth day.

As for myself, my name is Oleg, I'm 17 and I'm from Russia. I'm a student of the Faculty of Philology.

I write poems (and I believe that they're awful except for the few ones), and I very like films by David Lynch (seen his 'Twin Peaks' when I was 12, so since then I'm a Lynchephrenic Smile ), Andrei Tarkovsky, Stanley Kubrick, David Fincher and many others.

So it's just me. No less, no more Smile

Welcome Smile

You seem to have quite a similar taste to me in both music and film! Care to recommend any works of Andrei Tarkovsky? I've never actually heard of him.

My favourite Tarkovsky's works are Stalker and Solaris — both are sci-fi dramas. I think it would be better to watch them for the beginning. Another good-to-start films are Andrei Rublev (a very dark historical movie about the life of an iconographer in 14th century), The Mirror (a surrealist psychological drama) and Nostalgia (not his best but somewhat unique for him for it's atmosphere).

Hi Oleg,

You have a super cool name.  One of my favorite NHL hockey players was Oleg Tverdovsky

They thought he would be the next Bobby Orr

He wasn't as good, but he did have a good career.

Cheers!
