Have I missed something about the new Top 500 ratings? I am referring specifically to Yessongs which is missing. Is it because it is a live album or is there another reason. According to the index score it should be placed above Relayer.

Don't get me wrong, the Top 500 is a great addition. It gives an instant picture of what is around and popular (subject to some of the threads in previous discussions). Please - no comments about what is popular is not necessarly good, but in a while, when some of the more hard to get hold of CDs are reviewed in numbers, it should give a damn good indication of the best in prog.

They did redo all that mess. And i have noticed in the band bio sections that the "most popular" or whatever, section where they show the highest rated albums, they have removed live albums. I don't know why though.

Apparently only full length studio albums are listed. That's a good thing ... but separate lists for live albums, DVDs and single/maxi/EP would be cool.

Totally agree with that, ProgArchives should
definitely do that.

Aye! Playing the Fool should be acknowledged as the storming great triumph of art that it is! Unfair to live albums!

Who cares? It's not good enough to be at 412, that's for sure.

I was also thinking of Tangerine Dream's Ricochet etc that are also live. Me thinks there is a distinction between live promo tours and live recordings of original music.

Yeah, and what else is soooo obvious

Forgot to ask. Is there a reason why Tournado is not listed on the TD discography? Sorry. Thanks

Here's the list:

http://www.progarchives.com/top-prog-albums.asp?album_type=1

You can change it to list all types, studio albums, live etc. and also narrow to subgenres.
