There is only 3 good songs in AMLOR: Learning to Fly, On the Turning Away and Sorrow While half of Division Bell is pure genious, easy choice here.

Both albums are flawed. I like them both. Bell has too many midtempo songs going nowhere. Lapse by a little bit, could change tomorrow

I don't find the Gilmour Floyd so terrybly bad. As a matter of fact, I'm rather fond of it and it's got some of my favourite Floyd songs. However, I do like much more The Division Bell (this album I rank among my very favourites of Floyd, close to Dark Side, Wish you were Here, and Animals, and easily above The Wall).

The Division Bell is the only Floyd album I would rate less than 3 stars. MLoR is not fantastic, but a solid 3 star album to me and has some very nice moments.

I like Momentary Lapse a lot. The Division Bell is pretty poor though. Never got into to be honest even after playing it over and over.

I find it hard to chose between these two. Neither are classic Floyd. Had Momentary Lapse been their first album they would not have become particularly famous. However they are worthy efforts.
Division Bell had the makings of classic Floyd had Gilmour (and Wright) been in the mood - Cluster One (6 minutes), Wearing the Inside Out (stretched to 13 minutes), Take It Back (stretched to 10 minutes), Coming Back to Life (6 minutes) and Marooned (5 minutes) would have made a very nice 40 minute early 70s style PF album.
The extra time available on a CD makes bands feel obliged to give us 60 minutes plus every time and the anti-prog press of the mid 90s made extended tracks a no-no. The Division Bell in the end was just a moderate effort.

The Division Bell. It has one of my all-time favourite songs - High Hopes.

The one with many beds on landscape. The second one is too long, thus expatiative and sometimes boring.

The Division Bell. It contains one of my favourites from Floyd, High Hopes.
Edit: Looking at the posts so far. I didn't know High Hopes got this much respect.

I don't rate High Hopes but it seems to be popular.

I love, yes indeed love, the Division Bell. IMHO it's better than animals making it my 4th favorite Floyd album.

I actually enjoyed The Division Bell...I didn't really like A Momentary Lapse of Reason that much.

Would you like some Bailey's?
