Top Prog Rock Music Albums List Filters

See: http://www.progarchives.com/top-prog-albums.asp?salbumtypes=1#list

A suggestion I've made before, but thought I'd do a topic dedicated to it (perhaps there is another topic dedicated to it).

One can Filter: Minimum Average Rating Value, but one doesn't have the option to filter Maximum Average Rating Value. I would value having a maximum average rating value filter option.

why, you want to listen to the crappiest music on the site, or exclude the good albums.

anyway, could be a helpfull tool if searching for certain types of albums (the hated albums that turn out to be great), but no I wouldn't use it.

but if it's possible, why deny you the possibility to find the most horrendous and evelist album of all time.

For research purposes, simple curiosity, and ease of archival information. I might never listen to the music, but it could be a convenient guide for me.

It's definitely possible, and I don't believe that implementation would be difficult as we already have similar fields in place. We have Filter: Maximum Number of Ratings, Filter: Minimum Number of Ratings, and adding a maximum average rating filter would round things off nicely.

Of course it's a Top Prog Albums List and not a Bottom Prog Albums List, but this is an archive (and reasearch site) for good and bad music (and what's good and bad is commonly subjective).  With the 250 filter, even when filtering by subgenre, it can be rather difficult to get very far in the albums list (so then have to narrow by year etc.).  Before when I could play with the numbers (altering the url) to get 2500 listed, it was much better. Even to set it at a 4 rating value maximum could be helpful to find good albums.  Actually, there are many good albums in PA (at least I know of ones I love), I think, that have low ratings (say two stars), especially when only person has rated it. What's good to some is bad to others.

Something else I'd really like is to be able to view the unreviewed (no ratings) albums from that page if, say, I'm looking for an unreviewed Krautrock album from 1973.

For me, it  would be an interesting tool to have at my disposal. And heck, it could be useful tool for mnay more polls! lol

I didn't expect much interest, but does anyone think this could be at all beneficial?

It would be like this with that  Maximum Average Rating Value addition if a more visual aid is needed ;):

Filter: Minimum Number of Ratings
  [ # ] 0 for avg. number of ratings

Filter: Maximum Number of Ratings
[ #] 0 for avg. number of ratings

Filter: Minimum Average Rating Value
  [ # ] 0 for average ratings in query

Filter: Maximum Average Rating Value
  [ # ] 0 for average ratings in query

I also find it more aesthetically pleasing due to the parallelism with the existent maximum and minimum number of ratings filters.

Good idea in my head.

I also really like the idea for the tool to view unrated albums. Thumbs Up
