Who's advertising what? As far as I know, the ads are provided by external services, that use random keywords from the pages you serve, plus your physical location derived from your IP-address to determine what to display. So, in effect, you are advertising the guy to yourself... don't blame PA.

I don't believe the site chooses the ads you see.  The advertisers reps do it.  I think.  Smile
...that moment you realize you like "Mob Rules" better than "Heaven and Hell"

ADVERTISING INFORMATIONS

Progarchives.com is committed to helping progressive rock & related advertisers to benefit from our popularity and traffic (over 4 millions pages viewed per month from 800,000 visits). To remain strong and innovative we need to accomodate advertisers.

In the past we have accepted generic advertising, throught networks like Google AdSense and Tribal Fusion. We want to stop using these generic advertisers and offer our traffic to direct banners advertisers with a relationship to prog music.

To replace all the banners and text link ads from generic advertisers from our third-party network, we need to find banners advertisers, monthly featured artist, web store links and more.

So we have create a special package:

  • Logically and equally distributed 728x90/468x60 banners available for the site and forum.
  • Average more than 300,000 ad impressions per 30 days per banner.
  • USD 100$ per banner for 30 days.
  • Pay through PayPal (payment to [email protected]) any time in the month, you'll end up with 1 month (30 days) of advertising

Sure, that package exists, but the adds on the forum still come from addtechu.com, and I doubt that Dutch we-fashion.com on the main page has paid M@X to bug me about womens clothing (which I don't wear, just as the original poster doesn't listen to SoD Smile). Either way, the reason it's done is that it pays for the site.

What's wrong with SOAD ?
'Toxicity' is quite good.

and Serj Tanakian's 'Elect The dead' is a very good album.

The Ad you saw has no relation with PA.
