Topic: What is your favorite Gentle Giant Cover? Posted: June 03 2005 at 16:10 |
My favorites are TPATG and Civilian.
Also, ATT and Octopus (US) are good. Never really liked Three Friends cover, either of 'em, nor the cover for Freehand (altough it is great musically).

Gentle Giant covers are mostly pretty awful, but I do think that
Acquiring the Taste should get more recognition as a very cheeky
(excuse the pun) and clever cover. I also LOVE the way the title of
Civilian is made by highlighting areas of the name Gentle Giant. Very
clever - shame the album wasn't up to much.

I think the Interview cover art is pretty neat. I also like the covers of TPATG and Free Hand.

I voted for "In a Glass House" because of its 'double cover' format, but definitely, the cover "Acquiring the Taste" is so deliciously cheeky... that thing that seems to be a girl's bottom on the verge of receiving a black kiss... and in the end, it's just a regular juicy fruit.
Regards.

I agree with whoever said that GG covers are not terribly appealing overall. But I think the one for Glass House is quite striking, and gimmicky in a good way.

I like 'Power and the Glory', but I couldn't resist voting for... Giant for a Day. I like that tongue in the cheeck approach. And the album is not THAT bad. It's just an average pop record.
The worst may be the one from my favourite GG record: Free Hand.
