Listening to both albums I notice that the Beatles' Revolver sounds more mature and complex musically and even lyrically. It has fresher ideas in it that A Quick One. It does have the throwaway Yellow Submarine, but besides that, it is mainly high quality, with some real standouts. It is too short. A Quick One has some Killer stuff, particularly Boris the Spider, Whiskey Man, I Need You and of course A Quick One While He's Away. It's very close for me, and I did go with A Quick One, but the Beatles album sounds so much more developed that you get this weird sensation the Beatles were a mature band 10 years behind their contemporaries.

Revolver for sure... Not my favourite beatles but it wins if not only for Tommorow Never Knows.
