The Mars Volta is, in my mind the continuation of at the drive-in! So it is mostly the same band, but if I had to choose( and I had to choose ) then I would go for Mars Volta, if only because of Roulette Dares(wich is incredible live BTW )

Mars volta! its pretty hard to be better than them . I once heard a song by The Drive-In on the radio, didn't like it ... too punky for me. And who are Sparta and how are they related to the other two?

My vote goes to The Mars Volta.
When At The Drive-In split, it went into TMV and Sparta. Sparta stayed punky. TMV kinda sorta did, but added it's prog stuff too.

This is a prog site, obviously TMV will win.
That said, ATDI has my vote.

TMV for sure. ATDI does nothing for me and I've never heard Sparta.

ATDI have their moments. Relationship of Command is very enjoyable. Never heard the Sparta though. Are they any good?

Yeah, Sparta is a good band (too emo for me, but a good band, anyway).
