What prog/rock band's (/members of those bands) would combine into the best act?

Although we did get ELP, other famous combo acts like Asia and GTR were not quite as seriously devoted to being greater than the sum in a proggy way.

For instance, in just one area, I can very loosely imagine in real history a Waters Pink Floyd forming in the mid 80s with Eric Clapton, Roger Waters and perhaps Nick Mason and on the other hand a Pete Townshend and David Gilmour band around the same period.

Since this is a dream combo, I'll do something really daring

The Greg Lake cameo on Real Good Looking Boy made me want this one:

1979,

Carl Palmer - Drums
Pete Townshend - Lead Guitar
Greg Lake- Rhythm Guitar
Roger Daltry- Lead Vocals
Keith Emerson- Lead Keyboards
John Entwistle- Lead Bass

This may have remedied the Keith Moon hole in the Who after 1978. Considering the Synth orientation of the Who and the introduction of their keyboard player to compensate for Moon, this lineup probably wouldn't be objected to by the core band if anyone involved wanted to do anything but kill all the others. Too bad.

*Not exactly a heavy thread Embarrassed*
