As you may have noticed, many music sites are using the multi-genre tagging, I think it really works fine mostly on a site like this where you have a high number of threads complaining about "Why is A on genre X if it's Y?", and the most important, it would give you a clearer idea of how a band sounds.

I know it would imply a deep change on the site, since many visual elements should be rearranged maybe, and even may imply changing the data base design, so I don't expect you to make it right now Smile but I was just wondering if you have considered. What do you think?
This is not my beautiful house...

If you mean multiple genres for artists ... I think that is more likely to be implemented than genre per album. But it wouldn't be as helpful. Multiple genres per album would be best, but I don't think that it will ever be implemented here, as it a) would require serious changes in the database structure, and b) who would assign all the genres? There are endless quarrels over artist genres now, imagine the quarrels for multiple genres per artist or album ...

But it so happens that on my neat little website (link in the sig) I'm doing just that (multiple genres per album) ... you're very welcome to participate. Genres/Tags are treated like ratings ... the result is determined by a majority vote from the input assigned by all users.Smile

Multi-genre would lead to an increase in the workload of genre teams. Can you see having one band involve three separate genre teams to see if they fit in with their group ?  As is, it's a lot of work for some teams just to keep up with submissions, AND give each one a good hearing to ensure no one that merits inclusion is overlooked.
And frankly, you just get to a point where each band is its' own little genre. The sections here are meant to be general divisions with much variety within them. SO you will find some Neo bands that are heavier than others, some Jazz Rock / Fusion groups that include some symphonic elements ,and even some Prog Metal acts that have a folk influence.
So what happens when group X who is currently described as Rio/Symphonic/Folk/ Jazz Rock Fusion has a person wanting them to have the Symphonic tag added ? Do we analyze the actual Symphonic quotient to see if the tag truly needs to be added. Will most people even need to go that far just to have their curiousity piqued ?

This been discussed a lot of times.

TAGGING can be a ADD ON to the navigation, but the main categorization would still be the PA SUBGENRE.

One thing in a coming future , is the album sub-genre categorization.

More about this feature later.

Thanks for the idea

Should we be looking forward to this in the near future?

I know I asked you this before, but you didn't give me an answer: are there any plans to change the way reviews are displayed on album pages?
