I'm gonna say a very harsh thing now: Those who foolishly or deliberately ignore Vandenplas are LOOSERS !!  (and are missing out on fantastic prog metal)  Disapprove

^ nice! It's surely the correct list, although the "_tagmetal" is a bit redundant (and cause the word "metal" to appear twice in the heading).Tongue

And here's a slightly modified chart which only includes one album per artist:

One remark about no.18: hardly anyone knows it and I only know it thanks to the streamsong on our site !
Makes me wonder: does anybody listen to those streams ? I believe they are here to check out bands and find new ones. I must admit I don't do it often enough myself, it's also a matter of lack of time I think but it's really rewarding to check out streamsongs. Just try the the one of Marco Sfogli (it's on PA would you believe it ?). I'm almost certain you will love it !

phew....Wink

Talking about a great list my friend. Funny you contribute for the second time (after the neo thing) and somehow I expected that Wink. Another funny thing is I have the same blanks as Rushfan with those albums. I know Arcturus for instance but I don't have any albums and I have one by Therion and one by Beyond Twilight but not the same as you. As I also said in the neo thread: there's a lot to discover.
And about Vandenplas' masterpiece: I almost put it on no.1. There have hardly been better songs than Silence, Wish you were here and of course January Sun. I get ecstatic when I hear these !

It is a great list.  I think the only 2 that I don't have and haven't heard are numbers 18 and 25.

There are a lot more on Jared's list that I haven't heard: 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, and 22.

And although I thought I would have to wait for Mike to post his list so I could copy the link to generate the list, I think that I stumbled upon the correct list.
