I have reached the conclusion that ProgArchives should not display reviews without them first being vetted. The number of spoof reviews seems to be on the increase, the use of reviews to debate/argue seems to continue unabated, and the low quality of some reviews devalues the site.
Therefore my suggestion to the site's owners would be to vet every review before it appears on the site (perhaps with the aid of the Collaborators and a group of volunteering forum members?) and to discard the silly ones. If this could weed out the dross and the spoofs then the site's reputation could be maintained.
It would be hard work, but if a dedicated group of forum members also helped out then it might be worth considering.
My thoughts, for what they're worth.
