yo PA,
i think a Space/experimental band from Manchester called Oceansize should be added to the archive, they only have 1 album called "effloresce" which i am listening to now and is definetly a work of prog, perhaps more post rock based. They are similar to Porcupine Tree (with their general sound) and Godspeed (with their experimental moments). They meet some of the prog criteria. long compositions with intricate melodies that can be hard to grasp, some 7 minute, 9 minute and 6 minute pieces. The album has no breaks and flows as one big piece, with pieces that are continuously building and prolly have time sig changes (i know nothing of musical theory so i dont know what time sigs are, i only have a rough idea) im sure there are more prog related parts too. Their sound is clearly space/experimental with influences from floyd and radiohead and definetly should be in the archives. They have a new album out sometime this year called "music for nurses"! Cant wait. |

I agree. Though I've only heard two songs by them, they seem to fit the description of a prog rock band.

Oceansize do indeed need to be in here! Not only do they have many many
progressive characteristics (I wont list them again) but they are also
an absolutely awesome band.
"Effloresce" was their first full length album, and "Music for Nurses" was an EP that came out earlier this year. You can probably still get hold of it if you have a look on Amazon or something. The new album should be with us sometime in May, or June, or July... before the summer anyway, I hope! I recommend Massive Bereavement to anyone who wants to download a song to try out. Awesome stuff. |

Me add them? Err...That could be challenging as I don't think i know
enough about the band, but I'll have a browse through the biography
part of their site and see what i can come up with over the
weekend/during the next week!
Btw, if you want to download a concert of them live, you could do far worse than go to www.breedsiamese.com It is very good quality. Miocene needs to be added too, and probably Marmaduke Duke (and even Biffy Clyro) but I'm not sure if I've got that much free time! |

great choice for inclusion, Frenchie. oceansize are an amazing band and starting to get the acclaim they deserve. friends saw them at a festival recently and they blew everyone else off the stage. I tried to get tickets to their show in London, but they sold out quickly. I think they have a new album out very soon too.
