Hello, you were successfully caught by my headline
![]() I am opening this thread here, because I need some help with my musical studies. I have been playing the piano for six years (and doing keyboards additional three years), and therefore am now at a level where my teacher says "Bring your own books". So, I seem to have grown out of the workbooks. But, I am not a music library, that means that I am given the sheets by my teacher. This is my problem: She is only interestend in showing me the to me unfolding beauty of romanticism and film score music. That made me become bored of that kind of tunes. What I am seeking now is something more up tempo, crazy and maybe dissonant, modern.. maybe a cryptical description. If you know what I mean, I would appreciate some recommendations.
Thank you!

Personally, I play the guitar, but that doesn't matter. When I get bored, I usually go to the internet. See for this site for instance
http://www.free-scores.com/free-sheet-music.php?CATEGORIE=70 It's a direct link to piano stuff. If you want it jumping and fast, try some of the ragtime there, or latin rythms ![]() |

Have you tried
Scriabin : Etude Op. 42 No. 5, Sonata No. 5, Op. 53 - and, of course, Op 68 (The "Black Mass" Sonata) and Op 72 "Vers la Flamme".
Liszt : Paganini Etudes, Grand Galop Chromatique, Transcendental Studies...
Prokofiev : Suggestion Diabolique, Op. 4 No. 4
Just some of the most demonic pieces ever written

If your technique is really good and you're proficient at reading notation ... I'd recommend you try some Jazz standards for piano. One I always liked to play was "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea". It's not really complex, but you can try to add some improvisation.

Rhapsodie Mignone by Carl Kohling, or something like that. It is the hardest piece that I have ever tried to play. Also, Claude Debussy is very interesting. Also, Flight of the Bumblebee for the piano is fun.

I'd like to second Passionist's recommendation and specifically recommend Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag.
