Not sure if I remember all albums from these years that I have heard and even less sure I could pin the year they were published in on them, but let's give it a try:

2007: VdGG - Real Time. That was an easy one for me; I was at that concert.
2006: Peter Hammill - Singularity. One of the best solo albums of Peter; that should say all.
2005: Psychedelic Monsterjam - Intergalactic Travel Agency. That's real Kraut!
2004: Gong - Acidmotherhood. A must have for all who love the trilogy, yet very modern too.
2003: King Crimson - The Power to Believe. King Crimson finally manage to get back on their feet.
2002: The Red Masque - Victoria and the Haruspex. The best modern band.
2001:
2000: Guru Guru - 2000 Gurus. Mani Neumeier still has something to say.
1999:
1998: Space Explosion - Same. Kraut supergroup with only this album.
1997: Ozric Tentacles - Curious Corn. The Ozrics finally back to form after a few so-so albums.

Have to leave out the other years for the moment; can't decide about them yet. You can clearly see where my interests lie, by the way.

Radiohead - OK Computer
The Prodigy - Fat of the Land
1200 Mics - Time Machine
William Shatner - Transformed Man
Placebo - Sleeping With Ghosts
Autechre - Ganz Graf
Muse - Origin of Symmetry
Beck - Mutations
Madonna - Ray of Light
Certif1ed - Disturbed Wink

There are so many others - mostly non-Prog, as I've yet to hear any modern Prog that really "does it" for me, apart from Radiohead. The real innovations seem to be in music outside of the Prog sphere.
The important thing is not to stop questioning.

Now, let's see:

2007 - So far, it's Phideaux's Doomsday Afternoon
2006 - Pure Reason Revolution's The Dark Third
2005 - Can't choose, loads of good stuff in 2005
2004 - Ayreon's The Human Equation
2003 - Steve Hackett's To Watch The Storms
2002 - La Maschera di Cera's self-titled
2001 - Mostly Autumn's The Last Bright Light
2000 - Iron Maiden's Brave New World
1999 - Porcupine Tree's Stupid Dream
1998 - Mercury Rev's Deserter's Songs
1997 - Spock's Beard's The Kindness of Strangers

All this just made me realize I don't really care much for prog/prog-related from the 90's on...

Sorry, Friede - I was a bit disappointed by what I heard on their site.

I can hear they've got something going on there - I didn't hate it at all, but after having spent some time at Garageband, it all sounds rather rough and ready (and that's not just because of the low quality live recordings).

They remind me a lot of some of the underground bands I heard during the 1980s at free festivals - there's a bit of The Magic Mushroom Band and Chocolate Teapot in there.

Sounds like they'd be entertaining live.

Well, I think you can clearly hear the influences they claim to have. And those influences are a list of my favourite artists. And their music is anything but rough and ready. I stumbled across them when an internet prog radio played one of their albums and was immediately hooked. They had everything I miss in modern bands, without the stuff I hate about them ("them" referring to "modern bands").

That list will probably change the moment I listen to the earlier Porcupine Tree work, but until then, the two LTE albums are placeholder for years 98 and 99, because, simply put, I didn't luisten to many good modern bands in those days.
