Topic: *Predict* Your 2008 top list. Posted: December 26 2007 at 12:37 |
1. Opeth (I'm getting an overwhelming feeling about this one, I'm buying into this one regardless of what I hear or read)
2. Meshuggah (They have been getting some more attention as of late, I'm sure they will come out with one of their best).
3. Kayo Dot (They have suceeded in impressing me everytime. Why should I doubt this one either?)
4. Ayreon (Based on the samples I have heard)
5. Nevermore (Prog or non-prog..whatever, I consider them more prog then a lot of PM bands on here, but whatever. This is another band that always impresses me. They just have tough contenders on this list).
I guess you could always come back to this list and see if your predictions were true.
I might completely bite it with all my money on Opeth.

Talisma was supposed to have a new one this year but is missing, so I am hopeful for 2008. The new Nektar is also AWOL.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

1) Ayreon 2) Opeth 3) Van Der Graaf Generator 4) Meshuggah 5) Biomechanical (they aren't on here but I consider them progressive) 6) Anathema (if it comes out in 2008) 7) Orphaned land 8) Stratovarius (I think their new album is coming out in '08) 9) Blind guardian (orchestral album, okay it's not prog but it's still going to be on my list)

Sadly I am yet to find an experimental progressive avant-garde garage rock band.

jajaja I'm a Metallica fanboy, and I actually think St. Anger isn't bad at all, it has some pretty rocking moments. And, well, Metallica has never released anything bad. I know (and heard of) a lot of metaleers which are waiting for their new album. I mean, it's Metallica, man, they're great musicians and maybe the biggest classic metal band out there!

If these all happen: Present, Univers Zero, Magma, Van der Graaf Generator, Miriodor, Taal and King Crimson.

KROBAK "The Diary of the Missed One"
A SILVER MT. ZION "13 blues bla bla bla moon or something"
SIGUR ROS
THE AMBER LIGHT
OPETH
THE MARS VOLTA
YNDI HALDA
GRAYCEON
THE MORNINGSIDE
THE GOURISHANKAR "Close Grip"
Honestly, I'd like to discover more relatively new bands, like it happened this year - for instance,BEARDFISH, PHIDEAUX and GAZPACHO are all quite good
