As good a time as any to ask: what should I start with to get acquainted with Muse? I have not heard a single track by the band (that I know of) and there's been enough talk about 'em that I feel I may be missing something.

Some prog elements indeed. I never thought about Muse a progressive band. However I like them very much. Their latest cd 'Absolution' rocks.

I personally wouldn't consider them a prog band, and I have 2 of their albums.

they're a damn good band. If they had more albums as awesome as Origin of symmetry, i bet they'd be considered prog.....but still my favorite band by far.

Muse are the nearest thing you're gonna get to prog bruising the singles chart and getting onto the cover of the NME (they got them fooled).  Similar in approach (not always sound) to Queen having a Grandiose sound and occasionally horizonta

Whether they are Prog or not (I think they are, and Rick Wakeman agrees with me) their performance at Glastonbury last year was astounding.  Actually the best gig I've ever seen on TV.

The gig at earls court was even sweeter then glastonbury.....and Glastonbury was damn good heh :)
