What are your recomended Scales and Modes  sually use for this type of genre or any reccomendations to create the atmosphere ,except weed cuz im skint lol.

I'm really getting intrested the theory side of it from songs like Paint It Black & Love You To leading to shakti with john mclaughlin.

With D as your root try these:
D D# F# G A A# C# D
D E F# G A B C D mixolydian
D D# F# A B D major pentatonic b9
D Eb F G A Bb C D    phrygian
D E F G A Bb C# D   harmonic minor
D D# F# G A A# C D mixolydian b9 b6 a favorite of M Davis

There are more, try putting these in different keys also.
There are books out with Raga scales, probably stuff on the internet too.

It probably has a specific name in India, but I don't know what it is.
In European music theory it is a major scale with a flat 9 and a flat 6.
In common usage slang its often called the "Indian" scale.

a very famous baroch composer used that exact scale, but i can't remember for the life of me what his name was! damnit that will be bugging me all night now. wikipedia, here we come.

i remember the technical name now. it's the Hungarian Minor i think, but it uses the same notes starting on G.

I find it strange that the Beatles are listed as proto-prog when songs like Love You Too and Within You Without You are examples of Indo-Prog/ Raga Rock and much advanced from Norwegian Wood or Paint it Black.  Blue Jay Way is heavily influenced by Indian music without using any guitars or Indian Instruments which is very innovative. 
 
The other major progressive rock forum lists the Beatles as World Music as one of the four progressive rock subgenres they have tagged for the Beatles.

You're not seriously suggesting the Beatles for the Raga Rock genre, are you?
