Topic: The Ultimate Flower Kings song Posted: August 08 2007 at 18:45 |
What's the absolute best Flower Kings song? Vote only if you are familiar to most of the songs.
I'll go and vote for Devil's Playground, though I predict "The Truth Will Set You Free" will win.
Oh, and remember they are releasing a studio album in late september/early october. The musicians are claiming to have been very inspired, though there's a chance they're overhyping a subpar effort. We'll see.

Stardust We are, especially since I heard and saw it live, lots of emotion, thoroughly grandiose without being pompous and a true prog classic.

Zitro, have you read the last post in the Prog News Forum regarding the new album? Roine put out another update about a week ago.

All of those songs are great. SIlent Inferno has quite possibly my favorite Roine solo ever, but it's not quite as epic as the longer pieces, so I can't call it the "ultimate" Flower Kings song. Naturally, as I do believe their most creative and powerful material is on Unfold the Future, I would pick from the other two epics featured on it. Devil's Playground has a fantastic ending, but I still think I need to pick The Truth Will Set You Free.

I could have voted for pretty much any of the songs on offer here. They are all tremendous. My favourite FK track is probably still 'Psychedelic Postcard', but in the end I voted for 'Garden Of Dreams' - as far as I'm concerned, despite its length, it holds together wonderfully well and it has some sublime moments on it. To me, that song is a modern 'Supper's Ready'.
However, I think the winner here will be out of 'Stardust We Are', 'The Truth Will Set You Free' or 'I Am The Sun'. Three more classics!

I love Psychedelic Postcard as well. Every review I ever read says it stinks, though.

I'm listening to Unfold The Future and "Fast Lane" with Gildenlow on vocals is friggin' awesome. Never paid much attention to it before; however, it's got a nice pace and the vocals are exquisite. They should add this to their set list because Hans would do a great job on it.

The Flower King, no doubt.
One of the catchiest guitar sections/solos ever in any genre of music
