maybe this has already been done here on PA, but hey, what the heck...
got pics of your recording setup ?  let's see 'em.

Nice space!
 
Here's a tip for you, well 2 actually.
 
1. Don't use the egg cartons.  They are almost useless.  It's an urban myth that they are a good alternative to acoustic foam and rockwool.  They might sort of smear high end above 10Khz but the egg carton profile stuff you see in anechoic chambers is a) much bigger, and b) made of a dense acoustic foam, and c) backed by 4" + of more acoustic foam. Do a search around for DIY sound absorbers.  You can make 'em from softwood batten, mineral wool and hessian cloth for a few $/£.  They work!
 
2. Save up for some nearfield studio monitors.  Alesis makes some really great value ones, as do Edirol, and Tapco.  They will be a revelation to your music.. They really will
