Topic: Petrucci's Guitar In Live DT Performance Posted: November 15 2006 at 08:07 |
I was wondering, on the Scenes from New York CD, when they are performing Dance of Eternity, what kind of guitar is Petrucci playing? It has more strings that normal, and I've never seen an electric guitar like it before. I am doing a music presentation in my Intro To Music class (I'm showing Dance of Eternity to the class), and I want to know what kind of guitar it is. Thanks for the help.

I haven't seen it, but I'm guessing its an Ibanez 7-string, something he's used very VERY frequently since the Awake studio album. The seventh string is a low B string, a fourth below the typical lowest E string, and it adds a heavier sound exhibited in songs like The Glass Prison and as you said, Dance of Eternity. Other songs with it include A Change of Seasons (even the acoustic beginning) and Caught in a Web

Yep, there's your answer. Pretty accurate by the way heyitsthatguy. Also, if the freaking guitar shines it's not because Petrucci is special and stuff shines when he holds it, it's because he had this freaky paint job done to his guitars and so some of his guitars glitter and change color depending on what kind of light hits them.

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.
