OOPS,
Administrator? Can we get a ruling on CD Burners?
I'm not sure that type of interaction would be good for this site. Trading original materials, CD for CD, would probably be acceptable.

My sincere apologies - I've thought about this overnight & quite apart from the copyright issues, bands of this genre need all the support they can get, as opposed to 1 person buying the album & burning it for many others...
Consider me contrite and suitably abashed

I've got tons of duplicates ( and even some triplicates!) of vinyl from the early seventies. You see, I went through a period of paranoia back in the early eighties when I thought that all this music was going to be lost forever with the advent of compact discs If anyone has any wants let me know through my e-mail address.

Still waiting. I got rid of the Kaipa, but I'm still willing to trade the Steve Howe and Marillion discs.

I have no moral qualms with trading copies of CDs. if anyone is willing to trade CD's via regular mail, drop me a line. I have an extensive collection (500+) including entire discographies of Rush, Dream Theater, ELP(1st four albums), various King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and various other CDs. I also have other non-prog bands such as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix (the studio albums & some live) The Doors, Black Sabbath(1st four albums), The Beatles, CCR, and many other CDs
I am looking for bands such as Van Der Graaf Generator(I unfortunately have none of their albums), Gentle Giant(the same, unfortunately), Genesis(I have lamb and england), and other hardcore prog bands.
once again drop me a line. If, however, the admins rule that the site should not be used for CD swapping, then never mind. However, I believe that this is the one of best way to endorse the genre.

All:
Re CD burners, my guess (as a new administrator) is that they are frowned upon.
The "moral" question here is one of royalties to the songwriter. Every time you "trade" an album instead of buying it, you are denying the songwriter royalties to which they are entitled. If you take a second to "walk in their shoes" - imagine that you are a songwriter whose income is dependent (or even somewhat dependent) on the royalties from sales of CDs, and people are simply sharing CDs and thus not buying new copies, thus depriving you of your income - you will see that there is more to it than you may want to believe.
That said, no one can stop you from sharing with each other. However, I doubt sincerely that Max et al would be pleased by it, much less make the site available for such activity.
Peace.

What about actually trading original LP's or CD's?
I have a few CD's I bought, not copies, that I'd be interested in trading. I also have a Holdsworth EP "Road Games" in good condition that I'd be willing to trade for some VDGG or Gentle Giant.
Private Message if interested.
