Gong Family Unconvention 2006
a joyous conspiracy
playing it by heart
when:  3rd, 4th, 5th November 2006
friday, saturday, sunday; full moon weekend
doors open 4.30 each day - till oh so plenty, plenty past late!

where:  Melkweg - Amsterdam - the 'max', and the historic 'old hall'

what:  3 nights of musical magic - an audiovisual feast. All manner of things - undoubtedly musical vibrations never before attempted in the modern era and new to all, sights and sounds the like of which have not been seen nor heard for many a long year. And most importantly of all - You - having the grandest of adventures - with us.

why:  because together we can

who:  gong, daevid allen, tim blake, steve hillage, miquette giraudy, mike howlett, didier malherbe, gilli smyth, system 7, the steve hillage band, crystal machine, hadouk, acid mothers gong, eat static, mothergong 2006, kangaroo moon, house of thandoy, theo travis, daevid unplugged, here and now, glissando guitar ensemble, university of errors, zorch, cyndee lee rule, thom the world poet...(still a few surprises tba...perhaps even gnome juggling!)

how:  explore the menu at the right >>> for ticket info, loads of options on how to get there, where to stay, ideas, informational links - and much more to come...

unconfirmed:  further plans and schemes are being hatched on an almost daily basis. The immediate response to some of the wilder of these is often a startled, "We can't possibly do that!", but then again.... Rest assured we will squeeze in as many of the friends and relations as can happily fit into the Melkweg Tardis.

Sounds like fun!!!!!!!!!!!!Big smile

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

Typically dutch .LOL

The expensive price is shunned in the front page and when you take a look, the price is in £ and not € which you still have to multiply by 1.5

From Gong Gas:

"smoking: smoking is permitted in The Max & The Old Hall"

"please: it's a strict condition of the Melkweg that no "hard drugs" are sold, used or brought into the venue. "

OK, so i'll stay on weed, H and shrooms!

I already knew about this little "Gong unconvention" for a while, but it's just too bloody expensive at € 140,- !!! Confused

In August I will attend the Lowlands festival, including tons of bands, comedy, theater and other happenings in popular culture, all going on during the entire day. We will also camp there. Altogether, that costs about € 120,-. So, as much as I would love to see Gong, the price is really rediculous (especially in comparison to full festivals such as Lowlands). The only way I will reconsider buying a ticket is if tickets for a single day will be available.

All this does not mean, though, that I won't be there when there will be a PA meeting in the day, when Gong aren't playing. Approve

Anyway the Baldies are intending to go, I am tempted and Olivier is too. and Amsterdam is not a bad place for that second Dutch Prog Archivers meeting even if it is bloody expensive.

Sorry. LOL

What I meant to say: IF there will be a meeting in the daytime, I will be there. So I won't go to the concert (at night). But I suppose that you will all be in Amsterdam in the daytime as well, so then I can join you.

I think it's worth the money, just to see Here & Now playing "Secrets" again. I await the gig with thrilled anticipation.

Not yet! I'm not totally sure and i wonder if it's possible to attend to a part of the concerts only (as it last 3 days) and not pay the full.

So you live close to 'Dam?

Yep, I live in a small village close to the university city of Leiden (perhaps you know it). I'm right between Amsterdam and Den Haag, quite convinient.

And which part of France are you from?
