Try to "play" as oppose to "practice" as often as you can. In other words, break up your going over scales, alternate fingering, etc. with playing something you enjoy.
You probably won't hear much improvement in your playing from day to day but keep at it and one day you'll realize how far you've come. At least this was the case with me.

Just keep at it...I've been playing now for 44 years, it's a lifelong learning curve.  Just ordered a Demedici 1317SE alto flute this morning - can't wait until it arrives on Wednesday!

thanks all of you, I'll try to follow your advices.
Here in Mexico it's hard to find good flutes but the one I have works fine. Altough its a "Bundy" secondhand flute.

yeah, i agree with the above, ive been playing for about 2 months and can rip apart almost anything from the prog stuff...its just like maturity, stupid people think they have reached the peak of maturation while smart people feel they are learning more day by day.  Same goes with music, you learn something new everytime you play, just keep playing every day...I have been on the piano for about 10 years and it has helped me greatly with just understanding music in general...once you know music you can play anything

I advise playing more than one instrument, most people dont give this advice and i think it is completely necessary to take new steps.  Pick up a guitar, or even a chinese fiddle, or something crazy, and you will learn more and more about the LANGUAGE of music everytime you play and will pick up that flute and just go NUTS!!!

good luck my man!!

Learn some music theory. A few weeks after I joined a music theory class at school I could see a significant improvement in my trombone playing. This can also help you figure out new things to play because you know what sort of things are supposed to work with what.

Well i am studying in the "Culture house" of my city and my teacher only focus the teaching on the tecnique, Solfeggio and the full domination of the instrument and nothing about Harmony and music theory.
Do you know some book or website where i can find some good stuff about this??
