 Topic: I Need Help!

I need some recommendations, cause it seems like I keep running into dead ends.
I am looking for some good progressive metal. I would like it to have technical elements, but not to some insane leve like Dillinger Escape Plan or Spiral Architect. The bands I like are Dream Theater, Tool, Meshuggah, Coheed and Cambria (whether you consider them prog or not, I still like them) and Symphoony X is good, but a bit over the top - I know, a Dream Theater fan saying something isover the top is a bit of a contradiction, but that is what I like.
Any suggestions?

I`d probably get some Shadow Gallery (first rate melodic prog with blistering musicality) , Enchant (blue print of the world) , Riverside (good for starters) Savatage underrated brilliant band get their later stuff its more progressive , Ayreon (almost everybody knows about Ayreon) , Stride (not that well known but they do prog metal very well) Ice Age (another not well known band that are once again great) Magellan (probably currently the most progressive prog metal band these days to the true meaning of what progressive is all about , they push boundaries and challenge the listener .. I love em but some people don`t like them much) Hope this Helps

Riverside is my favorite, although they are not as "metal" as the bands you like. They have much influence from Pink Floyd, but with a harder sound.

yes I agree .. thats how I see them , they are great though I`m listening to them at the moment and getting into what I`m hearing

How comes nobody mentioned Threshold!
Get Subsurface, Critical Mass and/or Psychedelicatessen and you'll have quite a treat! 
And then obviously go for Pain of Salvation and Opeth (in this latter case watch out for the growls...apart from those, Mikael Akerfeldt has got one of the most beautiful voices I heard in recent times!)

Add Hypothetical and Critical Energy to that BiGi.
Also try Pagans Mind, OSI, Kamelot, Liquid Tension Experiment, Queensryche (not very prog but still good), and Vanden Plas.
