Topic: Thick As A Brick and A Passion Play Posted: April 17 2006 at 15:36 |
Well, I enjoy both of them.
Some people despise A Passion Play. They say it's directionless - what do they mean by that?

TAAB is brilliant, Passion Play is a little overrated IMO. I just don't like it as much as most other Tull albums.

A Passion Play is great, but it just can't hold up to Thick as a Brick, one of the great masterpieces of progressive that towers above all Prog in 1972.
Or maybe it's my favorite strait prog album.

I say both are worth four stars, but A Passion Play is closer to five.

Neither. Aqualung is better than both together. TAAB sounds very repetitive at some times. APP is too unfocused, se kind of TOTO (yes) bad developed.

I like both albums VERY much but I think the most constistant of the 2 is Thick as a Brick. A Passion Play is more progressive maybe but TAAB is by far the most consistant and amazing of the two. TAAB = 5 stars, A Passion Play = 4

Best of 2006 that I've heard:
PFM-Stati Di Immaginazione
Zenit-Surrender (Best "unknown" album)
Oaksenham - Conquest of Pacific
2007:
Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon
La Torre Del Alchimista - Neo

I haven't heard APP. Thick As A Brick lost my attention after the first 10 or so minutes. So I vote neither.

ahhh... they mean that they read other people's reviews of albums and
don't listen with their own ears and make up their own minds
same with the TFTO filler argument..... that's like saying Monet used too many colors in his paintings
think APP is a great album... but still prefer TaaB.

Side 2 of TAAB loses focus after a fantastic first side. A Passion Play would
be my desert island choice. It stands on the shoulders of a giant!
