I have been using pro tools (on a windows PC) on and off as a musician for about four years in different studios and with varying degrees of success. I use many hard disk based recording packages in my work with bands but recently one of my mainstay programs (Cool Edit Pro) for sound processing fell apart which left me with just Pro Tools. I spent two days yelling at the computer but on the third day (heh!) I suddenly broke the barrier and suddenly 'got' how Pro Tools works. From that moment on, things just fell into place with it and I haven't looked back since or even tried to re-intsall Cool Edit.

Is there anybody out there that has had a similar experience with Pro Tools or indeed with any device that initially seemd un-useable?

Pro Tools + Mac = Computer recording nirvana.

When there's Sony's ACID, I can't justify the expense of Pro Tools on the PC, so never tried it.

Acid is great isn't it? I use it a lot for arrangement ideas. V fast, V easy.
