I saw it has been asked before, but besided what Andy Gilham put on his site (and a lot of others copied) is there a source for their lyrics that is more complete than what Andy has? Booklets in cd's or so? Anyone who ever tried to write them down for his/herself?

A few (but not all) of the lyrics appear in the annex of the book "Tanz der Lemminge" by Ingeborg Schober. It is a biography of Amon Düül written in the late 70s. Ingeborg Schober was closely associated with the Düüls; she and her husband (who made a short tv-movie about them, in which they play "Phallus Dei") lived with them for some time. The book has not been translated into English though. It is still available from Amazon.
I posted the lyrics of "Dem Guten, Schönen, Wahren" and "C.I.D. in Uruk" somewhere on this site (including translations into English).

Ok, that sounds interesting, thanks for mentioning that. I speak German, so let's see if we can get it at Amazon.

Regarding your postings here re. the lyrics, will do some search, but since it's not possible to search on content, do you remember what the topic was called?

No, but I can post them again:

Dem Guten, Schönen, Wahren

Ihr ließet die Kindlein zu mir kommen;

Die Kleinste fing an, nach der Mutter zu schrei'n;
Ich durchbohrte sie sanft mit meinem Glied.

Kommet zuhauf und seht ihn euch an;
das Haupt kahlgeschoren und lächelt noch!
Frisch ans Werk, 's ist gleich getan!
Hängt ihn auf, den geilen Moloch - ja!

C.I.D. in Uruk

Thunfischflossen roh
im Klo.

Bärtige Weise schweben im All;

The lyrics to "Dem Guten, Schönen, Wahren" are pretty clear, but don't ask me what the lyrics to "C.I.D. in Uruk" mean.

See, brain teasers, always nice to philosophize on it. Eternal question of course always is whether they meant something with it, or that they were just fully stoned :). Well, to be honest, I do not even blow, let alone do any heavier stuff, but I have to admit that on the very few occassions I did it "Apes-ma" from Captain Beefheart was playing and for the first time I really understood what he meant with it. If I have to recall that now, I don't think I would be able to reconstruct this "understanding" anymore, but perhaps you need to be high yourself to understand the "deeper" :) lyrics of these kind of music.

Thanks for posting them!

Well, you put me to work Candy....

1st) Andy Gilham either quit or is revamping his site, it's gone. Fortunately I copied the lyrics

2nd) Indeed nowhere any sign of Sleepwalker's (logical of course, since you couldn't find it). But I also checked if I could find the lyrics of other missing songs, well forget it.

So, what I did found was a hell of a lot f***ing sites claiming to contain lyrics, but were either referring to each other, copying from each other or just did have plain nothing (except of course for ads, spyware, popups and do I know what kind of other nuisances).

That means that I really should start collecting them, check with Andy why he stopped and perhaps should give it some webspace.

Will be continued
