I'll go completely broke if I buy all the albums with 5-star reviews around here.

So (since I am on a very limited budget)...Could somebody please tell me what albums actually deserve 6 or 7 stars?   Thanks.

NEW RULE:  You're not allowed to review an album until after the 2-month Infatuation Period wears off.

What do ya feel like, classic Synphonic Prog, Folky Style, or maybe something Heavy?

Let me know and maybe I can help you.

I'd have to be boring and say Yes - Close to the Edge.

This is also highly dependent on what you own...like another poster said, we could recommend the best Yes albums but maybe you already own all of those.

I'd start with these:

Yes - Close to the Edge
Yes - Relayer
King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
King Crimson - Red
Genesis - Foxtrot
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound

How many albums can you afford to buy!?!

I'd also be boring as erlenst says and nominate Yes' CTTE as the one to start with...but you could do worse than buy up the top30 on the PA listing, maybe limiting yourself to just the top 2 albums by any one artist to save money (otherwise you end up withe.g. 4 Floyd albums etc).

I'd then add in one or two other gems...Tools Lateralus is worth buying; Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire is a must in my book; and though its maybe not worth of 6 or 7 stars, I'd recommend The Mars Volta's "Frances the Mute" as an indication of truly progressive modern music. Oh, and Robert Wyatt's "Rock Bottom" is a cracker.

I recently wrote a very nice review and gave the band 5 stars (at the time I thought I was being fair) ,  but today I was playing it and its probably more like 3/12 stars  , I feel like I have mislead people but theres nothing I can do about it

I will add that feature to my website (I'll "assimilate" it).
